Oxford Launches New O-Level Syllabus in Pakistan
Oxford has launched three new mandatory subject specifications, Islamiyat, Pakistan Studies, and Urdu for Pakistani O-Level (IGCSE) students, aiming to provide locally relevant and globally connected education.
This development follows long-standing calls from educators and policymakers to align international curricula with Pakistan’s cultural, historical, and linguistic context. The move ensures students preparing for O-Levels gain not only global competitiveness but also national identity awareness.
The updated syllabus emphasize critical thinking, analytical skills, and exam preparation. They cover Pakistan’s history, geography, Islamic teachings, traditions, and the richness of Urdu literature.
