The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has directed all flights operating to and from Islamabad International Airport (IIA) to carry extra fuel on August 13, citing possible delays linked to Independence Day preparations.
According to a NOTAM issued by the PAA, incoming flights have been instructed to carry additional fuel reserves ahead of Independence Day events on August 14.
The notice states that air exercises planned in connection with the celebrations are expected to cause delays in takeoffs and landings at Islamabad Airport, which may require aircraft to hold in the air before being cleared to land.
The PAA has instructed all flight captains to ensure aircraft carry sufficient extra fuel to manage potential holding periods without operational difficulty.
Officials said the directive is aimed at ensuring the safe and uninterrupted movement of flights on August 13 and 14, as authorities prepare for heightened air activity tied to the national celebrations.
The advisory applies to all flights scheduled to arrive at or depart from Islamabad International Airport during this two-day window.
Airlines have been asked to factor in the possibility of extended waiting times when planning fuel loads, with the PAA emphasizing that the precaution is intended to prevent disruptions caused by the temporary airspace restrictions.
