Published by

The wait for next-generation connectivity in Pakistan is almost over. Federal Minister of IT Shaza Fatima has confirmed that the much-anticipated 5G spectrum auction is targeted to take place during the holy month of Ramadan.

The government is pushing to hold the auction by the end of February. This move aims to fast-track the country’s digital infrastructure. The Ministry is moving quickly. All telecommunication companies have received a strict ultimatum of 3 weeks. This deadline ensures that all stakeholders are prepared for the upcoming bidding process.

Furthermore, the official Information Memorandum (IM) is currently in its final stages. It will be given its final shape immediately after proper consultation.

Minister Shaza Fatima also addressed concerns regarding the current network quality. According to her, users will see a noticeable improvement in 3G and 4G services within 3-4 months of the 5G auction.

For those waiting for high-speed internet, the timeline is clear. The government is trying to launch 5G services in big cities within 6 months. This phased rollout prioritises major urban centres for the initial deployment.
