Pakistan’s airspace remains fully operational and safe for all flight operations, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) said on Saturday, despite a temporary closure of Tehran’s airspace by Iranian authorities.
In an official statement, PAA said Iran issued NOTAM A0715/26 closing Tehran airspace to civil aircraft from 1130 to 1700 Pakistan Standard Time. The authority noted that this daytime period generally sees limited east-west transit traffic, minimizing immediate operational impact.
PAA stated that if Iranian authorities extend the NOTAM beyond 1700 PKT, overflight traffic may increase through Pakistani airspace, particularly during nighttime hours, as airlines reroute long-haul international flights to avoid Iranian airspace.
Air traffic control units across Pakistan are fully prepared to handle any additional traffic, the authority added. Flight operations nationwide are continuing as normal, with no reported delays, restrictions, or safety concerns.
The clarification comes amid heightened regional tensions following recent military actions involving the United States and Israel against Iran. Authorities emphasized that Pakistan’s aviation infrastructure remains fully functional and capable of managing increased air traffic if required.
