Pakistan’s headline inflation eased to 10.26% in September 2026 from 11.15% in August, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). However, inflation remained significantly higher than the 5.76% recorded in September 2025.
The latest reading brings average Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation for the first quarter of fiscal year 2026-27 (1QFY27) to 10.20%, compared with 4.30% during the same period of the previous fiscal year. September’s figure was broadly in line with the Bloomberg survey estimate of 10.2%.
Core inflation also eased slightly, falling to around 8.6% in September from 8.8% in August, but remained above the 7.0% recorded a year earlier. On a month-on-month basis, headline inflation increased 0.3% in September, compared with a 1.2% rise in August.
The latest data indicate that while price pressures have moderated from August levels, inflation remains considerably above the levels recorded a year earlier, keeping overall price pressures elevated during the opening quarter of FY2026-27.
