Pakistan has announced a landmark move to simplify travel for foreign visitors by introducing an online visa facility for citizens of 192 countries. The new digital visa system allows tourists to apply online, eliminating the need to visit embassies, making the process faster, transparent, and efficient.
Federal Minister for Investment, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, revealed that alongside the online visa system for 192 countries, visa-on-arrival will be available for citizens of 120 countries, further easing international travel. This initiative aims to promote tourism, attract foreign investment, and enhance Pakistan’s global connectivity.
“Pakistan has crossed significant milestones in economic growth in recent years, and these steps will further strengthen the tourism sector,” the minister added.
The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) emphasized the economic benefits, with President Atif Ikram Sheikh stating, “Tourism contributes 10% to the global economy, and countries focusing on it see substantial benefits in employment and GDP growth.”
FPCCI senior vice president Saqib Fayyaz Magan and Islamic Chamber of Commerce Secretary General Sheikh Yousaf Hasan Khalvi also highlighted tourism as a key driver for job creation and trade promotion.
This move positions Pakistan as a more accessible and tourist-friendly destination, expected to strengthen both its tourism and investment sectors.
