Pakistan has extended a formal invitation to Saudi Arabia to invest in three major motorway projects, strengthening economic and infrastructure cooperation between the two nations.
During a meeting at the Pakistan International Maritime Expo and Conference (PIMEC 2025) in Karachi, Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan urged Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, Engineer Saleh bin Nasser Aljasser, to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan’s growing transport and logistics network.
Aleem Khan emphasized that Pakistan’s road infrastructure is both vibrant and self-sustaining, backed by an efficient toll system. He noted that the Ministry of Communications and National Highway Authority (NHA) are expanding the motorway network to link northern regions with major urban and economic hubs a move aimed at boosting regional trade and connectivity.
Inviting Saudi investment, he highlighted three key projects the M-6 (Sukkur–Hyderabad), M-10 (Hyderabad–Karachi Port), and M-13 (Kharian–Rawalpindi) motorways along with the Mansehra–Naran–Jalkhad–Chilas (MNJC) Road, citing its tourism potential and commercial viability.
“Pakistan welcomes Saudi participation in its infrastructure journey, offering mutually beneficial opportunities in transport and logistics,” said Abdul Aleem Khan.
In response, the Saudi minister praised Pakistan’s development efforts and sought support in the upcoming International Maritime Organization (IMO) elections. He also expressed interest in enhancing cooperation in technology, road safety, and logistics.
Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to expanding collaboration under the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement (SMDA) framework, marking a new chapter in Pakistan–Saudi infrastructure partnership.
