The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports is working with a private bank to introduce a digital payment system for all passport and immigration fees.
A delegation from the private bank met Director General Muhammad Ali Randhawa to discuss implementing a state-of-the-art cashless payment infrastructure across immigration services.
Under the new system, citizens will pay their passport and immigration fees directly through a dedicated mobile application, eliminating the need for cash transactions at offices.
The private bank has already begun developing the technical infrastructure required to support this modern digital payment model across relevant government service points.
DG Muhammad Ali said promoting digital payments would make service delivery faster, more transparent, and more accessible for citizens seeking passport-related services.
Both immigration officials and bank representatives agreed on a final rollout mechanism, aligning the initiative with the government’s broader vision of achieving a fully cashless Pakistan.
Officials confirmed that the public would be provided with easy, secure, and modern payment facilities as part of wider efforts to digitise all government services.
Separately, authorities have warned citizens about a fraudulent individual misusing the Google Maps listing of the Regional Passport Office located in G-10, Islamabad.
The individual has listed personal contact details, including a phone number and email address, on the online location and is unlawfully demanding payments through JazzCash and bank accounts.
Citizens have been strongly advised not to share personal information with such individuals and to avoid making any payments in response to unsolicited requests or communications.
Officials urged the public to obtain all passport-related information and assistance exclusively through official channels to avoid falling victim to such fraudulent schemes.
