Pakistan Railways Launches Greening Drive Along Tracks

Pakistan Railways has launched a province wide beautification and modernization campaign, planting trees and flowers along railway tracks while upgrading key stations to offer passengers a cleaner and more comfortable travel experience.

The initiative is part of the department’s ongoing improvement plan aimed at transforming railway routes and facilities. In recent years, Pakistan Railways has focused on infrastructure upgrades, safety improvements, and passenger convenience making this new plantation project a continuation of its broader modernization strategy.

According to officials, the first phase of the urban tree plantation drive has started in Mandi Bahauddin, Malakwal, Sargodha, and Bhalwal, in partnership with the Punjab government. The campaign in Mandi Bahauddin was officially inaugurated in the presence of the deputy commissioner.

A spokesperson for Pakistan Railways said,

“This plantation drive will create greener corridors along railway tracks and significantly improve the travel environment for passengers.”

Along with the greening effort, the department is also upgrading major stations including Lahore, Karachi, and Faisalabad, where modern waiting areas, improved facilities, and new technology are being added. Many new waiting lounges are being constructed through public private partnerships to boost passenger comfort.

Officials noted that these steps will collectively help create a cleaner, greener, and more modern rail travel experience across the country.
