In a move to enhance passenger comfort and service quality, Pakistan Railways has launched a newly refurbished railcar rake on the Lahore–Rawalpindi route, marking another milestone in the department’s ongoing modernization program.
The official inauguration took place in Lahore, where Pakistan Railways CEO Aamir Ali Baloch inspected the upgraded coaches. The new rake, redesigned for better durability and comfort, features improved seating, upgraded sanitation, food and beverage services, and first-aid facilities, ensuring a smoother travel experience for passengers.
Speaking at the event, CEO Baloch said,
“These upgrades reflect our commitment to making train travel more comfortable, reliable, and affordable for the public.”
He added that similar refurbishments are underway for other trains across the network to raise safety, hygiene, and service standards.
Officials explained that the upgraded coaches were built to withstand challenging track conditions while maintaining operational efficiency. Pakistan Railways is also pursuing infrastructure modernization projects, including track rehabilitation and locomotive overhauls, supported by international financing aimed at improving train speed and reliability nationwide.
The new initiative is part of Pakistan Railways’ broader goal to revive public confidence in rail travel by focusing on service quality, safety, and modernization.
