Pakistan’s remittances recorded strong growth in the first seven months of fiscal year 2026 (7MFY26), rising 11 percent year-on-year to $23.2 billion, according to a report by Arif Habib Limited.
The report shows that overseas Pakistanis sent $3.46 billion in January 2026 alone, marking a 15 percent increase compared to $3.0 billion in the same month last year. On a month-on-month basis, remittances fell slightly by 4 percent from December’s $3.59 billion, reflecting normal seasonal variation.
Saudi Arabia remained the largest contributor in January, sending $740 million, followed by the UAE with $694 million. Remittances from the United Kingdom surged to $572 million, while Europe contributed $480 million. Inflows from the United States stood at $295 million during the month.
| Country | Remittances (USD Million) |
| Saudi Arabia | 740 |
| UAE | 694 |
| United Kingdom | 572 |
| Europe (Other) | 480 |
| United States | 295 |
| Total Jan 2026 | 3,461 |
Analysts say the sustained increase in remittances is providing steady support to Pakistan’s external account, helping ease balance-of-payments pressures and supporting foreign exchange reserves. Market observers expect the trend to continue, potentially aiding the State Bank of Pakistan in building reserves above $18 billion by June 2026, assuming stable global economic conditions.
