Pakistan to make stringent visa policy for Chinese businessmen and workers

The government of Pakistan has decided to tighten visa policy for Chinese entering in Pakistan for working and business purpose. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan. The minister ordered officials to curb all loopholes to ensure transparency.

The decision was taken to ensure full proof security to Chinese working in the country. Recently attacks on Chinese workers have increased in numbers, doing collateral damage in the process. Moreover, it was also decided in the meeting that long-term visa would be discouraged for Chinese workers and businesses.

This action by the interior ministry might undermine the “will” of Chinese investors to invest in the country as they might see this action by the government assault on their rights, however, on the other hand, ministry is determined to take this action in order to beef up security of Chinese businessmen, especially those who are working on CPEC.

As of now CPEC has created 30,000 jobs for Pakistanis and more are sure to come, so owing to development which is bound to come government should make policies which benefit both Pakistan and Chinese investors.

Interior minister also said in the meeting that a plan and strategy is needed to collect data and information regarding Chinese entering in Pakistan and of those who are working on CPEC or other various projects in the country.

Many Chinese people are working in the country with a ghost or forged documents and that is why interior ministry decided to give visas to those who would produce certified letter from the chamber of commerce and industry.

According to this new visa policy, Immigration and Passport (IMPASS) office would deal with the extension of business visa.
