Pakistan and Turkiye are gearing up for important high level talks aimed at boosting cooperation in energy, petroleum and mining a development expected to open new economic opportunities for both countries. Officials say the upcoming visit of Turkiye’s Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar is set to push forward existing projects and unlock new areas of collaboration.
The preparations were reviewed during a meeting between Federal Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik and Turkish Ambassador Irfan Neziroglu in Islamabad. Senior officials, including Secretary Petroleum Momin Agha and OGDCL Managing Director Ahmed Hayat Lak, were also present.
According to officials, the visit comes at a time when energy sector engagement between the two nations is steadily strengthening, with Turkish Petroleum already taking part in both offshore and onshore exploration in Pakistan. The government views this as a major move toward expanding foreign participation in the country’s oil and gas sector.
A background note shared during the meeting highlighted that Pakistan has been encouraging joint ventures in petroleum and mineral development, especially through state owned exploration companies like OGDCL, PPL and Mari Energies, all of which have partnered with Turkish Petroleum in recent months.
Ambassador Neziroglu said a “leading Turkish mineral-sector company” will also be part of the visiting delegation, a sign of Turkiye’s growing interest in Pakistan’s mining resources.
“This visit will help deepen cooperation across multiple sectors,” he added.
Minister Malik said Pakistan is committed to turning diplomatic goodwill into practical economic results, adding that the discussions during the delegation’s visit will play a vital role in accelerating shared projects in oil, gas and mineral development.
Both sides agreed to ensure a smooth and productive visit, with officials expecting new agreements and expanded collaboration after the talks.
