Pakistan’s Auto Sales Surge 65% in January 2025
KARACHI: Pakistan’s automotive industry witnessed a remarkable 65% surge in sales in January 2025, marking a strong start to the year.
According to a survey by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA), sales have been on the rise, with a total of 17,000 units sold in only one month. This figure includes electric vehicles, jeeps, sedans, vans, and other types of vehicles.
Between January 2024 and January 2025, sales in the automotive sector increased by 61%, according to PAMA. Sales in the automotive industry jumped 56% in the first half of fiscal year 2025, topping 78,000 units.
Sales of passenger vehicles hit 11,868 units in December 2025, up 51% from 7,864 units in December 2024, as reported by the PAMA. There was an 85 percent increase, to 5,518 units, in the sales of vehicles with engine capacities of 1300cc and higher. Vehicles with engines smaller than 1000 cc saw a 63% increase in sales, reaching 5,633 units, while those with larger engines saw a 30% gain.
Truck sales increased by 344% and bus sales decreased by 61%, according to the data. Additionally, sales of motorbikes surged, reaching 132,947 units.
According to the auto experts, the improvement in Pakistan’s automotive sector is due to the Pakistani rupee’s strength and the reduction of lending rates.
