Pakistan is rapidly stepping into the 5G era. Consequently, the country is actively strengthening its spectrum monitoring capabilities. The Frequency Allocation Board (FAB) is heavily upgrading its nationwide 5G spectrum monitoring network. This critical move will directly improve interference detection and boost oversight of emerging wireless services.
FAB took a decisive step in August. The board officially signed a contract with “Rohde & Schwarz”. This company operates globally as a manufacturer of spectrum monitoring and measurement systems. Under this agreement, Rohde & Schwarz will supply advanced network scanners and spectrum monitoring receivers.
FAB will deploy this new equipment at strategic locations across its regional network. As a result, the board will expand its geographical coverage. It will also significantly strengthen its capacity to monitor Pakistan’s radio frequency spectrum.
The upgraded infrastructure delivers immediate tactical advantages. Primarily, it enables FAB to efficiently identify problematic and unauthorized spectrum use. Furthermore, the advanced technology ensures timely detection and swift mitigation of harmful network interference.
FAB holds the core responsibility for national spectrum management. Therefore, integrating 5G-capable monitoring tech remains absolutely essential for the board to stay aligned with rapid technological developments.
The rollout of next-generation connectivity introduces highly complex demands. Pakistan must now manage new frequency bands and advanced wireless services. Ultimately, these newly deployed systems, in collaboration with the upgraded 5G spectrum monitoring network, will reinforce strict regulatory oversight.
Moreover, they will guarantee a much more reliable and efficient use of the country’s limited radio frequency spectrum. The recent contract with Rohde & Schwarz marks a critical modernization of Pakistan’s national spectrum infrastructure.
