The government has reassured the public that Pakistan currently has sufficient petroleum stocks to meet national demand and there is no need for panic buying or hoarding.
Authorities said the petroleum supply chain is being closely monitored due to the prevailing geopolitical situation, ensuring uninterrupted availability of fuel products across the country. Officials maintained that the existing stock levels remain comfortable and within prescribed limits.
The government warned that strict legal action will be taken against any individual or business found illegally hoarding petroleum products or storing fuel at unauthorized locations. Such activities are only permitted at licensed oil depots and retail outlets operated by Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs).
Reports suggest that some elements may attempt to stockpile fuel to profit from potential shortages. To prevent this, provincial chief secretaries have been instructed to direct Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to conduct inspections within their districts. Any premises involved in illegal storage of petroleum products will be sealed, and legal action will follow.
Meanwhile, monitoring teams from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority are actively conducting inspections at oil depots and retail outlets to ensure smooth supply and prevent malpractice.
However, petrol pump owners have warned of potential supply pressure, claiming that some Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have started restricting deliveries through a quota system.
Despite these concerns, OGRA officials say Pakistan still holds approximately 28 days of fuel reserves. Authorities noted that regional disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz have placed some pressure on global supply chains, but the overall fuel situation in the country remains stable for now.
The government has advised citizens not to pay attention to rumors and to continue normal fuel consumption patterns.
