Pakistan’s Internet Finally Recovers After Days of Disruption

After nearly a week of frustration and slow connections, Pakistan’s internet finally seems to be back on track. Nayatel , one of the country’s leading ISPs, confirmed on its official X account that the issues have been resolved and “all uplinks have remained stable.”

The outage, which began earlier this week, was linked to a fault in one of Transworld’s primary fibre backbones, a critical upstream provider for several ISPs in Pakistan. The disruption not only affected Nayatel but also caused significant slowdown for users of PTCL, Zong, and Ufone. In many cases, upload speeds were particularly impacted, creating widespread frustration among both residential and business users.

However, PTCL users have always consistently faced persistent degradations, as the provider’s network has repeatedly suffered from slow speeds and poor performance, a pattern that has become all too familiar.

According to Nayatel , the recent service degradation observed yesterday at 11:25 am was resolved by 12:00 pm, and since then the network has remained stable. Nayatel’s quick resolution and proactive updates through its My Nayatel App and customer portal helped mitigate some frustration, but experts suggest that greater redundancy in the country’s network infrastructure is urgently needed to prevent similar nationwide outages in the future.

While the restoration brings relief, the incident highlights a recurring issue in Pakistan’s digital infrastructure. Over the past few years, internet outages and slowdowns have become increasingly frequent, raising concerns about the country’s dependence on a limited number of backbone providers.
