13 6 Fall In Pakistans Mobile Imports In Fy25s Early Period

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan mobile phone imports totaled $868.551 million in the first seven months (July-January) of the fiscal year 2024-25, marking a 12.04% decline compared to $987.447 million in the same period of 2023-24. The decrease reflects a slowdown in demand and economic challenges affecting the telecom sector.

In rupee terms, mobile handset imports stood at Rs241.571 billion, registering a 14.28% drop from Rs281.814 billion in the previous fiscal year.

For the entire fiscal year 2023-24, Pakistan mobile phone imports reached $1.898 billion, significantly higher than $570.071 million in 2022-23.

On a Month-on-Month (MoM) basis, Pakistan mobile phone imports fell 17.23% in January 2025, amounting to $135.127 million, down from $163.257 million in December 2024, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

On a Year-on-Year (YoY) basis, mobile phone imports declined 30.66%, compared to $194.866 million in January 2024.

The overall telecom imports for July-January 2024-25 stood at $1.191 billion, registering a 4.18% decline from $1.243 billion in the same period of 2023-24.

Telecom imports dropped 4.30% MoM in January 2025, reaching $193.998 million, compared to $202.719 million in December 2024. On a YoY basis, telecom imports fell 16.58%, down from $232.568 million in January 2024.
