Pakistan’s Urea Sales Hit Record 1.356 Million Tons in December
Pakistan’s urea sales surged to an all-time monthly high of 1.356 million tons in December 2025, fueled by strong farmer demand and aggressive price discounts offered by fertilizer manufacturers, according to a report released by Topline Securities.
The report shows urea sales jumped 65 percent month-on-month and 37 percent year-on-year, pushing total urea offtake for 2025 to 6.73 million tons. This marks a two percent increase compared to last year, reflecting improved market absorption after months of inventory pressure.
Fertilizer producers had been facing rising stock levels in previous months, but December sales significantly reduced inventories. Urea stocks fell sharply to 0.31 million tons by the end of December, down from 1.13 million tons in November. According to Topline Securities, this decline has eased concerns about excess supply in the sector and allowed companies to scale back discounts.
Among manufacturers, FATIMA Group led December sales with 644,000 tons, followed by Engro Fertilizers at 378,000 tons and Fauji Fertilizer Company with 259,000 tons. Engro recorded the strongest growth, with sales rising 140 percent compared to November. The report noted that discounts ranging from Rs.150 to Rs.400 per bag were a key factor behind the sharp increase, though most incentives have now been withdrawn as inventories normalized.
In contrast to urea, DAP sales continued to struggle. December offtake dropped 67 percent month-on-month to 80,000 tons, reflecting weak demand amid higher prices and cautious buying by farmers.
