Passport services have resumed at Pakistan’s diplomatic missions in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates after a temporary suspension caused by technical issues at the central system in Islamabad.
According to official notices issued by the Embassy of Pakistan in Riyadh and the Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi, passport operations were restored on May 5, 2026. Applicants can now visit the missions during designated hours for passport issuance and renewal services.
The suspension had been imposed due to technical and maintenance issues at the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports headquarters in Islamabad, which disrupted processing at several foreign missions.
During the outage, Pakistani embassies had advised applicants to either wait for system restoration or use available online channels, while assuring that services would resume once the issue was resolved.
Officials said the restoration is expected to help clear the backlog of pending applications and improve service delivery for Pakistani nationals living abroad.
The resumption is particularly significant for overseas Pakistanis in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, where a large number of citizens rely on embassy services for passport renewals and documentation.
Applicants have been advised to check official embassy websites and announcements for updated timings and procedural requirements before visiting the missions.
