PERA Force Techifies: CM Punjab Directs Use of Body Cams & EVs

The Punjab Enforcement and Regulator Authority (PERA) Force is getting a major technological upgrade. On Friday, Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, chaired a special meeting to review the force’s performance. During the session, she issued strict directives to modernise operations and improve accountability through technology.

To eliminate corruption, the Chief Minister announced a zero-tolerance policy for bribery, misconduct, or abuse within the PERA Force. Consequently, she directed the immediate installation of body cams for all personnel.

Moving forward, the force must record all field operations via these devices. CM Maryam Nawaz emphasised that this step is vital to ensure complete transparency and accountability in the province.

Electric Vehicles for Smart Mobility of PERA Force

In addition to surveillance gear, the Chief Minister approved a fleet upgrade. She announced the introduction of electric vehicles (EVs) for the PERA Force.

Reportedly, this shift aims to make the service faster, safer, and more environmentally friendly. By adopting EVs, the force aligns with modern standards of efficient and green urban policing.

Beyond hardware, the Punjab government is investing in human capital. CM Maryam granted in-principle approval for a state-of-the-art PERA Training Centre. Furthermore, the authorities will launch special training sessions to strengthen the force’s operational capacity.

The Chief Minister also addressed the code of conduct. Maryam Nawaz Sharif stressed that interactions of the PERA Force with the public must remain polite, friendly, and dignified. While she lauded the force’s current performance, she urged them to focus on earning public goodwill. She stated:
