Peshawar Police Unveil Advanced Surveillance Drone with Laser Targeting System

The Peshawar Police have introduced a state-of-the-art surveillance drone equipped with a laser targeting system and night-vision capabilities, marking a major leap in the force’s technological modernization. The newly designed drone successfully completed its first test flight at the Nowshera Police Centre on Thursday.

Law enforcement agencies in Pakistan have increasingly turned to technology to improve surveillance, crowd control, and counterterrorism operations. The development of this indigenous drone reflects Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police’s commitment to self-reliant innovation and enhanced operational readiness.

According to the Central Police Office (CPO), the drone has a 10-kilometer operational range and can carry a payload of up to 10 kilograms, allowing it to transport tear gas canisters, mortar rounds, and other tactical equipment. The device weighs around 55 kilograms, is nearly two meters long, and can stay airborne for up to one hour at a speed of 36 km/h, reaching altitudes of 1,000 meters.

Police officials said the drone will be deployed in counterterrorism efforts, rescue operations, and large public gatherings to enhance real-time surveillance and ensure faster response times.

A KP Police spokesperson stated,

“This innovation marks a significant milestone for the force. With laser-guided precision and advanced optics, the drone will strengthen situational awareness and operational efficiency during critical missions.”

The introduction of this drone positions the KP Police among the most technologically advanced forces in Pakistan. It also underscores the growing trend of domestic drone development for law enforcement and security operations. Experts suggest that with proper training and integration, such technology could redefine policing standards in the region.
