In a significant move to boost Pakistan’s aviation and logistics sector, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has signed a landmark cargo partnership with Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh Air. The collaboration will enable cargo shipments from Pakistan and London to be routed through Riyadh, connecting to global destinations via both airlines’ networks.
The partnership, effective from October 29, 2025, is part of PIA’s broader business transformation plan to enhance operational efficiency and revenue generation through strategic international collaborations. The deal comes amid growing global demand for air freight services, particularly across the Middle East and South Asia.
Under the new arrangement, PIA and Riyadh Air will jointly manage cargo operations, optimizing logistics, routing, and freight capacity. The collaboration is expected to improve delivery efficiency, reduce transit times, and expand PIA’s access to new international markets.
A PIA spokesperson stated,
“This agreement represents a new era for PIA’s cargo business. By leveraging Riyadh Air’s expanding global network, we can deliver faster, more reliable services worldwide.”
Officials hailed the partnership as a milestone achievement that aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which aims to transform Riyadh into a global aviation hub.
Riyadh Air, established in 2023, is one of Saudi Arabia’s most ambitious aviation ventures, designed to connect the kingdom to over 100 international destinations by 2030. The airline plays a vital role in diversifying Saudi Arabia’s economy and strengthening trade and tourism connectivity.
Aviation analysts see this agreement as mutually beneficial helping PIA modernize its cargo operations while enabling Riyadh Air to expand its footprint in South Asia and Europe. The partnership is also expected to enhance regional trade flows, particularly for exports such as textiles, pharmaceuticals, and perishables from Pakistan.
