Pinterest Gives Users Power to Dial Down AI in Their Feeds

Pinterest is giving users more control over their feeds with a new tool that lets them reduce AI-generated content. The feature, which the company calls a “tuner,” allows users to adjust how much AI-created material they see across specific categories.

According to Pinterest, users can now decide whether they want more or fewer AI-generated images in areas such as beauty, art, fashion, and home decor. However, the company clarified that the tool doesn’t completely remove AI content. It only applies to “eligible image Pins” in categories where AI visuals are most common.

The tuner can be found in the settings menu under “Refine your recommendations,” inside the “GenAI interests” tab. It is currently available on Android and desktop, while iPhone users will get access in the coming weeks.

Pinterest began addressing the rise of AI-generated images earlier this year. In May, the platform introduced an automatic “AI modified” label that appears at the bottom left of relevant pins. Since then, Pinterest says it has improved its detection systems and made the label more noticeable, though it has not shared specific technical details.
