The Pakistani rupee (PKR) extended its winning streak against the US dollar (USD) for the 93rd consecutive trading session, closing marginally stronger in the interbank market on February 3, 2026, according to official currency data.
The PKR closed at 279.75, posting a one-paisa gain against the dollar compared to the previous session. While the appreciation was minimal, it marked yet another day of stability for the local currency against the greenback.
Despite holding ground against the dollar, the rupee weakened against most other major currencies. It slipped 35 paisas against the British Pound and Rs. 1.10 against the Euro, reflecting pressure from global currency movements.
The PKR also lost Rs. 2.62 against the Australian Dollar, while posting a modest gain of eight paisas against the Canadian Dollar.

In the Gulf region, the rupee closed slightly weaker against the UAE Dirham and Saudi Riyal, losing one paisa against each currency during the session.
The rupee’s extended stability against the US dollar is widely attributed to tight monetary policy, improved external account management, and controlled demand for imports. However, movements against other global currencies continue to reflect shifts in international markets rather than domestic factors.
