Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a major initiative to send Pakistani students abroad for training in artificial intelligence, including programmes in Europe and China. He said students from across the country will be selected strictly on merit.

AI Training and Youth Development

Addressing a ceremony at the University of Haripur, where authorities distributed laptops under the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme the prime minister said the government is focusing on preparing young Pakistanis for the global digital economy.

“Our goal is to equip students with modern skills so they can compete internationally,” he said, adding that selections for overseas training will include students from all provinces.

The ceremony was attended by government officials, youth representatives, and students, and marked another phase of laptop distribution under the scheme, which has already benefited more than one million students nationwide.

Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan’s development depends on balanced growth across all regions. He recalled earlier initiatives, including agricultural training programmes and overseas education opportunities launched during his tenure as Punjab chief minister, saying investment in youth remains central to national progress.

Education Projects Announced

Responding to local demands, the prime minister announced the establishment of a Daanish School in Haripur with separate campuses for boys and girls. He also approved the creation of a dedicated women’s campus at the University of Haripur, directing authorities to fast-track the project.
