The Prime Minister has confirmed the appointment of a new Deputy Director for Cyber Security under the Digital Pakistan initiative. The appointment has been officially notified and will remain in effect for one year under a contract-based arrangement.
According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Secretariat’s Establishment Division, the Prime Minister has appointed Mr Abdul Waheed as Deputy Director (GRC) PPS-10 for the project titled “Cyber Security for Digital Pakistan Phase-I.” The project is being implemented by the National Telecom and Information Security Board (NTISB) under the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication.
The notification, dated January 6, 2026, states that the appointment is on a contract basis for one year or until the project is completed, whichever comes first, and is extendable as per applicable rules. The decision takes effect immediately.
