Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to unveil “Vision Pakistan 2047” on International Youth Day, August 12, 2026, setting out a long-term national development roadmap focused on sustainable growth, innovation and prosperity.
The proposed vision is expected to establish Pakistan’s development priorities through 2047, with particular emphasis on youth empowerment, economic growth, technological advancement and national prosperity.
According to an official communication issued by the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP), chaired by Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, all federal ministries and their attached divisions have been directed to urgently submit their proposals for inclusion in the national vision.
The PMYP has instructed federal ministries to consolidate inputs from their attached departments, autonomous bodies and subordinate offices before submitting comprehensive proposals.
The submissions are expected to outline each ministry’s strategic objectives, flagship reforms, key policy commitments and long-term development agenda, while explaining how these initiatives would contribute to Pakistan’s broader development goals.
Officials have been asked to focus on transformative and measurable initiatives rather than routine administrative activities.
A major component of Vision Pakistan 2047 is expected to be the empowerment of Pakistan’s youth, who are being positioned as a key force behind future economic and technological development.
The roadmap is expected to address areas including economic transformation, human capital development, technology, environmental sustainability and governance reforms, alongside sector-specific development initiatives.
With Pakistan having a large and growing young population, policymakers are increasingly focusing on skills development, entrepreneurship, digital transformation and employment opportunities to strengthen the country’s future workforce.
The government aims to use the exercise to develop a unified national roadmap that aligns federal ministries around common development objectives and establishes a strategic framework for Pakistan’s progress over the next two decades.
The PMYP has emphasized that ministry proposals should be forward-looking, measurable and focused on transformative reforms.
The compiled submissions will be presented to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for consideration before the expected formal unveiling of Vision Pakistan 2047 on August 12, coinciding with International Youth Day.
