ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has summoned a crucial meeting of the National Command Authority (NCA) today in the wake of the Pakistan Army’s “Operation Bunyan Marsoos,” which struck key Indian military facilities.
The high-level NCA session will assess the latest developments amid the intensifying tensions between Pakistan and India.
The National Command Authority (NCA) stands as Pakistan’s top decision-making body responsible for national security, particularly concerning the command and control of the country’s nuclear arsenal.
Chaired by the Prime Minister, the NCA includes senior ministers from the Foreign Affairs, Interior, Defence, and Finance ministries, alongside the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, service chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, and the Directors General of the Strategic Plans Division (SPD) and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
The NCA plays a pivotal role in overseeing the maintenance, security, and operational efficiency of Pakistan’s nuclear stockpile, while also setting policies related to weapons of mass destruction.
Security sources earlier confirmed that the Pakistan Armed Forces had launched “Operation Bunyan Marsoos” on Saturday as a response to continued Indian provocations.
According to sources, Pakistan successfully destroyed a BrahMos missile storage facility located in Beas, which had been a launch point for previous attacks on Pakistani territory.
Additionally, multiple strategic sites across India are reportedly under attack as part of the ongoing Operation Bunyan Marsoos. Major blows were delivered to the Udhampur Air Base and the airfield at Pathankot, both key operational hubs for Indian forces, security officials said.
