The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) has approved a 5% increase in tuition fees for medical and dental colleges across Pakistan for the 2025-26 academic session.
According to the official notification issued under the PM&DC Act 2022, the maximum fee for MBBS and BDS programmes, earlier set at Rs1.8 million for 2024-25, will now rise to Rs1.89 million. The decision follows recommendations from the Medical Education Committee formed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
However, parents who enrolled their children in the 2023-24 session claimed that some private institutions are still charging Rs2.7 million or more. They urged authorities to ensure strict implementation of the new PM&DC fee structure.
The council stated that from 2026-27 onward, tuition fee adjustments will be linked to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation rate. Additionally, every private medical and dental college must publicly display its fee structure at least three months before the admission process begins, as per Section 20(7) of the PM&DC Act 2022.
PM&DC warned that any institution charging or displaying a fee structure higher than the approved amount will face strict action, including suspension of accreditation, cancellation of admissions, or legal proceedings under Section 33 of the Act.
