Pmdc Goes Fully Digital With Major Restructuring Drive

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) has launched a major restructuring and digital transformation drive. The move aims to modernize its systems and align operations with global standards.

This reform focuses on transparency, accountability, efficiency, and service delivery. It also strengthens PM&DC’s role in regulating medical and dental education, licensing, and professional standards across Pakistan.

Restructuring to Eliminate Redundancy

PM&DC President Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj called the initiative “a new era of institutional excellence and transparency.” The Council has redesigned its entire organizational structure. It has defined job descriptions for every position to ensure clear roles, responsibilities, and reporting lines.

Moreover, PM&DC is filling all key vacant positions. This will improve financial discipline, legal compliance, and administrative performance. It has also introduced monthly and annual performance assessments, including ACRs and structured evaluations. Promotions and upgrades will now follow merit-based evaluations.

Additionally, PM&DC is launching a performance-based reward system to recognize and incentivize top-performing employees.

PM&DC Going 100% Digital Through ERP

PM&DC is moving to a fully digital environment through a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. This system will streamline registration, licensing, accreditation, and HR processes. It will also improve data accuracy and speed up service delivery.

Furthermore, the Council has rolled out a user-friendly digital interface. It includes advanced security and accessibility features, making services more convenient for applicants, institutions, and practitioners.

PM&DC has also digitized examination systems, including MDCAT, NRE, and NEB. Students and professionals can now register online, track their progress in real time, and experience faster, automated processing. This minimizes errors and delays.

PM&DC Building Capacity and Expanding Reach

PM&DC is also investing in human capital. It has launched training and capacity-building programs for all employees. Renowned experts are conducting workshops to improve technical, administrative, and leadership skills.

In addition, PM&DC has set up Regional Facilitation Centers in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, and Gilgit-Baltistan. These centers offer registration, licensing, accreditation, and public services to ensure equitable access nationwide.

Strengthening Governance and Accountability

To further improve oversight, PM&DC has introduced a robust internal control system. This system will reinforce governance, prevent procedural lapses, and promote a culture of accountability across all departments. Dr. Rizwan Taj said:

“Through digital transformation, stronger governance, and continuous professional development, PM&DC is determined to serve the medical and dental community with integrity and professionalism.”

This initiative will boost operational efficiency, motivate employees, and enhance stakeholder satisfaction. It will also improve PM&DC’s credibility and international recognition.
