The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has introduced stricter regulations for medical and dental colleges, making student registration mandatory and imposing penalties for rule violations.
According to an official notification, all public and private medical and dental institutions must ensure that every admitted student is registered with PMDC within the specified timeframe. Authorities warned that strict action will be taken against colleges that fail to comply with the new rules.
Under the updated regulations, institutions that do not register students on time will face a fine of Rs50,000 per student. Colleges admitting students beyond their approved seat allocation will be required to pay 100% of the fee for each extra student, while unauthorized or irregular admissions will also result in full fee penalties.
The council has also introduced additional penalties for administrative violations. Colleges submitting graduation reports late will be fined Rs75,000 per student, while delays in annual examination results will result in a Rs30,000 per student penalty.
Furthermore, institutions that issue merit lists or admission lists late will face a Rs500,000 fine, along with an additional Rs50,000 daily penalty if the delay continues.
PMDC warned that institutions violating these rules three times may be placed on the grey list, and their seat allocation for the next academic year could be reduced.
The move is aimed at improving transparency, ensuring proper student registration, and strengthening regulatory oversight in Pakistan’s medical education sector.
