PSCA Launches Free Mobile Charging Stations at 30 Locations in Lahore

Dead phone batteries are now a solvable problem for Lahoris. The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) officially launched an Emergency Free Mobile Phone Charging Service today. Currently, the authority has activated these facilities at 30 high-footfall locations across Lahore.

This initiative marks a significant step in the city’s public safety infrastructure. A PSCA spokesperson confirmed that the project aims to expand rapidly. Consequently, plans are already in place to extend this facility to 100 points throughout Lahore in the near future.

More Than Just Charging Ports

The PSCA did not just install power outlets. Instead, they designed these spots as integrated “Safety Zones”. According to the spokesperson, these zones offer four distinct public safety facilities at a single location.

1. Emergency Phone Charging: Citizens get access to emergency free mobile phone charging ports.
2. Panic Buttons: The authority installed panic buttons for immediate assistance during crises.
3. Free Public Wi-Fi: Users can access Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Free Wi-Fi.
4. 24/7 CCTV Surveillance: The zones ensure round-the-clock citizen surveillance to maintain security.

PSCA: Strategic Expansion & Public Safety

The primary goal is clear. The government wants to ensure uninterrupted communication for citizens during emergencies. Furthermore, these Safety Zones aim to enhance the overall sense of security in Lahore.

The PSCA selects sites based on specific criteria. They analyse public needs, convenience, and crowd density before installation. Therefore, the upcoming expansion to 100 locations will target areas where citizens need these services the most.

Citizens have already started using the service. The PSCA describes this launch as a major milestone for the “Smart City” vision. It reflects the Punjab government’s commitment to introducing innovative, citizen-centric projects across the province.
