The Multan Sultans have announced Ashton Turner from Australia as their captain for the upcoming 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL) season, marking a new chapter for the revived franchise.
Turner, formerly a prominent Big Bash League (BPL) player, is known for his calm decision-making, aggressive batting, and tactical awareness, qualities the Sultans hope will strengthen the team under pressure.
The 32-year-old has led the Perth Scorchers in the BBL, showcasing leadership skills, team motivation, and the ability to maintain focus during high-pressure cricket matches worldwide.
Multan Sultans management believes Turner brings a winning mentality, high professionalism, and the ability to inspire players both on the field and in the dressing room during critical moments.
Turner expressed pride in captaining Multan, promising to focus on team performance, connect with fans, and deliver an exciting PSL season that supporters will enjoy and remember fondly.
Earlier this month. it was confirmed that Gohar Shah-led CD Ventures had taken control of the Sialkot Stallionz franchise, which was originally purchased by OZ Developers for Rs 1.85 billion.
The development was announced during a joint press conference in Lahore attended by Pakistan Super League Chief Executive Salman Naseer and Hamza Majeed of OZ Developers.
Naseer said that following the takeover and restructuring process, the valuation of the franchise has risen to Rs 2 billion annually under the new ownership arrangement.
He also confirmed that at the request of Gohar Shah, the Sialkot Stallionz franchise would be rebranded and would now compete once again under the name Multan Sultans.
PSL 11 Schedule
The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has unveiled its schedule for the 11th edition, with Lahore hosting the largest number of matches during the expanded eight-team tournament in 2026.
A total of 44 matches will be played this season, including 40 league-stage games and four playoff fixtures, allowing every franchise to complete ten matches before advancing to the knockout phase.
The 2026 tournament will take place across six Pakistani cities, reflecting the league’s strategy to expand cricket’s reach and provide fans nationwide with opportunities to watch live high-profile games.
Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will host 15 matches, the most in the tournament, while Rawalpindi will stage ten fixtures, Faisalabad seven, Karachi six, Multan four, and Peshawar two games this season.
