Islamabad United secured a seven-wicket victory over RawalPindiz in the 12th match of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
Chasing 157, the three-times champion reached the target comfortably with three wickets down and 34 balls remaining, registering their second win in four matches this season.
The opening batter Sameer Minhas led the chase with 70 runs from 36 deliveries, hitting seven fours and four sixes.
Middle-order batters Haider Ali and Mark Chapman remained unbeaten, scoring 26 and 24 respectively to complete the run chase.
Earlier, RawalPindiz posted 156 for seven in 20 overs after being put into bat by United captain Shadab Khan.
Kamran Ghulam top-scored with 50 runs from 39 balls, hitting six boundaries and two sixes while anchoring the innings for the Mohammad Rizwan-led side.
Dian Forrester added an unbeaten 44 runs off 19 balls, including two fours and four sixes, providing late momentum to the innings.
United bowlers Richard Gleeson, Salman Irshad and Faheem Ashraf claimed two wickets each during the innings for the Islamabad United.
Experienced all-rounder Imad Wasim also took one wicket, contributing to restricting RawalPindiz to a manageable total.
For RawalPindiz, who have lost all their three matches they played in the event, Rishad Hossain, Jalat Khan and Mohammad Ami took one wicket each during the chase.
The result lifted Islamabad United to second position in the standings with five points, moving ahead of Lahore Qalandars by one point.
RawalPindiz remained seventh on the points table after their third consecutive defeat, ahead of Hyderabad Kingsmen on net run rate with both teams yet to register a win.
Karachi Kings lead the table with six points, while Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators occupy fourth, fifth and sixth positions respectively.
It is pertinent to mention that the ongoing Pakistan Super League will see Quetta Gladiators face Multan Sultans at the same venue as the tournament continues.
