Peshawar Zalmi recorded the biggest victory in Pakistan Super League (PSL) history, defeating Karachi Kings by 159 runs in the 17th match at National Bank Stadium in Karachi.
The margin surpassed the previous record of 120 runs of Peshawar Zalmi, as Karachi Kings were bowled out for 87 in 16.1 overs while chasing 247 runs.
Kusal Mendis scored 109 off 52 deliveries, combining with Babar Azam for a 191-run second-wicket partnership, which set up an imposing total of 246 for 3.
Babar Azam remained unbeaten on 87 from 51 balls, supported by Abdul Samad’s 40 off 12 deliveries, ensuring Zalmi posted their highest score of the season.
Karachi Kings struggled throughout the chase, with Azam Khan top-scoring at 25, while Saad Baig and Khushdil Shah were the only others reaching double figures.
Nahid Rana, Sufiyan Muqeem, and Iftikhar Ahmed each claimed three wickets, while Shoriful Islam added one, dismantling Karachi Kings’ batting lineup in a dominant bowling display.
Kings captain David Warner’s decision to field first proved costly, as Zalmi capitalized with aggressive batting and maintained control through disciplined bowling in the second innings.
Abbas Afridi was the most effective bowler for Karachi Kings, taking two wickets for 55 runs, while Khushdil Shah contributed one wicket during Zalmi’s innings.
