The Establishment Division has directed Grade-19 Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) officer Nadeem Hussain to deposit Rs8,689,890 in the national exchequer after he failed to complete his PhD within the approved study leave period.
Hussain was granted leave from September 1, 2019, to July 19, 2022, to pursue the degree but did not finish it within that time. The division has converted his study leave into extraordinary leave without pay and declared the salary and benefits paid during the period recoverable.
The officer must deposit the amount under account head C03824, which is designated for the recovery of overpayments. He has been given three months from the date of the notification to pay and submit proof of payment. If he fails to comply, the notification will be treated as void.
The Establishment Division has also instructed the Government of Balochistan to ensure recovery within the stipulated period and send a compliance report to the division. The recovery order has been placed on the officer’s personal file.
