The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has released its Annual Report 2024–25, highlighting the sustained growth, resilience, and overall performance of Pakistan’s telecom sector during the reporting period.
Pakistan surpassed 200 million telecom subscribers and 150 million broadband connections, with telecom coverage exceeding 92% and broadband penetration crossing 60%. The sector recorded revenues exceeding PKR 1 trillion, reflecting a 12% year-on-year increase. Fiscal contributions to the national exchequer rose to PKR 402 billion in 2025, up from PKR 336 billion in 2024, while sectoral investments grew by 9%, reaching US$838 million.
Expansion of telecom infrastructure led to data usage reaching 27,727 petabytes in 2025. Supported by 95% 4G-enabled cellular networks and 17.21 Tbps international bandwidth, Pakistan is strengthening its regional connectivity with four new high-capacity submarine cables. PTA also facilitated the National Roaming initiative and infrastructure expansion across Pakistan, AJK, and GB.
Local device manufacturing accelerated, with over 95% of mobile devices, including 68% smartphones, being locally produced. Pakistan achieved an improved global cybersecurity standing, with PTA effectively managing cyber threats through nTSOC operations. Consumer protection initiatives resulted in a 13% reduction in complaints.
The report reflects PTA’s continued commitment to 5G readiness, cybersecurity, and a future-ready digital economy.
