Punjab has rolled out free Wi-Fi services across girls’ colleges, a major step led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to expand digital access for female students. The initiative, now active province-wide, aims to improve learning outcomes by making online research and educational resources easily accessible.

The project is part of the government’s broader digitalization agenda and has been implemented by the Punjab Safe Cities Authority, which previously upgraded surveillance and connectivity infrastructure in major cities. The effort reflects the government’s focus on strengthening female education, technology access, and modern learning tools.

According to officials, the Safe Cities Authority has ensured high-speed and secure Wi-Fi availability inside campus premises. Students welcomed the facility, calling it a “much-needed step” for academic support.

One student shared,

“Free Wi-Fi will save us time, money, and help us study better. It shows the government is serious about supporting girls’ education.”

Teachers also noted that instant digital access will help students complete assignments, join online lectures, and utilize research databases without interruption.

The government said the initiative will continue expanding to more institutions as part of Punjab’s upcoming Digital Education Framework.
