Punjab Announces Rs. 65,000 Stipend for College Interns

The Punjab government has announced a Rs. 4.217 billion monthly stipend package for more than 8,000 College Teaching Interns (CTIs) across the province, aiming to support young educators and improve the quality of higher education. Under the program, BS-level interns will receive Rs. 65,000 per month, while intermediate-level interns will get Rs. 55,000 monthly.

The College Teaching Internship program has been one of Punjab’s key initiatives to fill faculty gaps in public colleges and offer employment opportunities to qualified graduates. The updated package reflects the government’s commitment to education reform, inclusivity, and youth empowerment in 2025.

According to the Punjab Higher Education Department, internship durations are set at 10 months for BS-level and 7 months for intermediate-level interns. Upon completion, interns will also receive official experience certificates to aid in future employment or academic opportunities.

“This initiative is not just about financial support; it’s about empowering youth and strengthening our education system,” said a Punjab government spokesperson.

The government has also introduced special quotas to ensure equal opportunity 404 seats for minorities, 243 for persons with disabilities, and 40 for the transgender community.

Officials confirmed that the total budget of Rs. 4.217 billion will cover stipends and administrative costs. The policy is expected to enhance teaching capacity in government colleges, especially in rural and underdeveloped areas, and motivate qualified individuals to pursue careers in education.
