Two Consecutive Days Of Holiday Declared In Sindh

In a recent development, the Punjab Department of Special Education has officially announced that all special education schools and training centers across the province will now remain closed on Saturdays, in addition to the regular Sunday holiday. The new directive aims to provide relief and convenience to students and teaching staff alike.

Previously, special education institutions in Punjab operated six days a week, with Saturday being a working day. The move comes in response to long-standing requests from staff and educators for a five-day working schedule, aligning with policies followed by other education departments.

According to the official notification, all District Education Officers (DEOs) and Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) have been instructed to ensure immediate implementation of the new weekend policy.

“The decision is intended to provide better rest, mental health support, and preparation time for both students and staff,” said an official from the Special Education Department.

Implementation & Impact

The new policy will take effect from next week, officially marking Saturday as a weekly holiday for all institutions under the Special Education Department. This means that schools for persons with disabilities will now operate on a five-day schedule, improving work-life balance and academic efficiency.

The initiative reflects Punjab’s growing focus on inclusive and supportive education for persons with disabilities, ensuring a more accommodating environment for students who often require specialized care and attention.
