Punjab Awards New Driving License Card Contract to Red Apple
The Punjab government has awarded a new three-year contract for the production and delivery of driving license cards to Red Apple, replacing the previous vendor as the existing agreement expires on November 1, 2025. This move aims to enhance both the quality and efficiency of license card issuance across the province.
The decision follows a competitive tender in which only two companies participated. Red Apple secured the deal by offering a lower rate of Rs. 51 per card, compared to the previous Rs. 57, leading to significant cost savings for the government.
“Red Apple has demonstrated strong production capacity and quality assurance, making it well-suited to handle Punjab’s growing licensing needs,” said a traffic department official.
Currently, Punjab issues around 15,000–20,000 license cards daily, but officials expect this number to rise to 25,000 per day under the new contract. Red Apple’s production capability exceeds 30,000 cards daily, ensuring timely delivery and improved service efficiency.
The new system also aims to eliminate delays that have previously frustrated applicants. With over 350,000 licenses issued monthly, authorities have stressed that quality control and data security will be strictly monitored under the new arrangement.
This contract marks another step in Punjab’s broader effort to modernize public service delivery, improve transparency, and adopt cost-effective digital infrastructure in the transport sector.
