LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the expansion of the Honhaar Scholarship program, extending financial assistance to students from Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) pursuing professional education in Punjab.
Faizullah Firaaq, spokesperson for the Gilgit-Baltistan government, commended Punjab’s dedication to educational development and called this initiative a meaningful step toward fostering academic collaboration between the two regions.
To facilitate students, a dedicated Honhaar Scholarship Help Desk has been set up, operating from 9 AM to 5 PM, to provide guidance and resolve concerns. Students can seek assistance via WhatsApp (0303-4002777, 0303-4002999), landline (042-99231903-4), and email (complainthonhaar@punjabhec.gov.pk, honhaar@punjabhec.gov.pk).
This initiative is part of a broader educational vision, which includes the recently launched CM Education Card. As part of this initiative, students scoring over 80% in annual exams will receive the CM Star Card, formally known as the CM Eminence Star Card, recognizing their achievements and encouraging academic performance.
Beyond student rewards, the government has also announced a series of significant education reforms. A state-of-the-art laboratory for matriculation and technical education will be established, and a pilot project for English-speaking classes will launch in 338 schools in Lahore. The Technical Education subject will also be introduced from class five onwards to equip students with practical skills early on.
