Punjab Cm Maryam Nawaz Awards Free E Bikes To 2200 Khelta Punjab Games Champions

Punjab: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced on Thursday that 2,200 athletes who excelled in the divisional-level ‘Khelta Punjab Games’ 2025 will be awarded free e-bikes in recognition of their achievements. During the inaugural ceremony of the biggest sports event ever held in Pakistan, she highlighted the Punjab government’s dedication to fostering youth development and improving sports opportunities.

Maryam Nawaz declared that the Punjab government is prepared to boost the sports budget from Rs. 2 billion to Rs. 5 billion if necessary. She also instructed that all victorious athletes receive complimentary entry to the Horse & Cattle Show as a gesture of gratitude for their commitment and achievements. “After the education sector, we are focusing on sports for the youth. The flag of our country is in their hands, and I am confident they will never let it fall,” she stated.

The chief minister emphasized that the entire budget of Punjab is dedicated to the youth, underscoring her commitment to empowering young athletes to achieve gold medals on the international stage. She emphasized her commitment to making sure that the youth of Punjab have access to education, employment, and sports opportunities.

“All young athletes are my champions. I want to see the same passion and energy in ‘Khelta Punjab, Taraqi Karta Punjab’ as we build a brighter future together.”Maryam Nawaz encouraged young people to prioritize sports and education instead of falling prey to anti-state influences.

“Champions focus on their goals. Do not let anyone manipulate you into harming your country. If someone asks you to burn institutions, attack security forces, or destroy public property, they are not your friends but your enemies.” She added.

She emphasized that Pakistan must be the defining boundary, with all initiatives focused on advancement, cohesion, and national growth.  “Punjab will play, Punjab will study, and Punjab will move forward.”

The Chief Minister highlighted that Punjab is brimming with talent, and all that is needed is a nurturing environment for these individuals to flourish. She recognized that for many years, sports fields were overlooked, but due to recent investments, untapped talent is now coming to light.

She committed to enhancing every playground throughout Punjab and praised Faisal Ayub Khokhar for his contributions to advancing sports in the province. She also instructed the Sports Minister to guarantee that children are provided with both education and sports training as essential components of their overall development. The chief minister inspired young athletes to emulate the success of national champions like Arshad Nadeem, Aisam-ul-Haq, and Nooh Butt.
