The Punjab Sahulat Bazaars Authority has decided to establish 150 permanent Sahulat Bazaars at the tehsil level ahead of Ramazan, replacing the practice of setting up temporary markets.
The decision was taken at the sixth meeting of the Board of Directors of the Authority, chaired by Chairperson M Afzal Khokhar.
Members of the Authority and senior officers of Sahulat Bazaars attended the session, which reviewed matters related to the establishment of new bazaars, expansion of their network, and availability of essential commodities to the public.
The board decided that permanent Sahulat Bazaars would be set up in every tehsil in line with the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, aimed at providing citizens with organised, year-round facilities for purchasing essential goods.
It was further decided that, before Ramazan, each tehsil would have both a Sahulat Bazaar and a Sahulat In-The-Go Bazaar to widen access to essential commodities.
The Chairperson directed that maximum attention be given to public relief and to expanding the bazaar network, stating that the primary objective was to facilitate citizens in purchasing essential commodities at better prices.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of the Authority to strengthening and expanding the Sahulat Bazaars network across Punjab, with officials pledging all possible measures to ensure the steady availability of essential commodities and improved facilities for the public.
