Punjab Extends Honhaar Scholarship Deadline to Oct 26

Punjab Chief Minister Mariyam Nawaz has extended the deadline for the Honhaar Merit-Based Scholarship Program to October 26, 2025, giving students more time to apply after recent floods disrupted educational activities in several districts.

The program, launched by the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC), is designed to ease the financial burden on parents and help deserving students continue their studies without interruption. Around 30,000 scholarships are being offered, covering full tuition fees for undergraduate students enrolled in public sector universities and colleges.

Officials explained that the initiative not only supports low-income families but also ensures academic continuity during emergencies such as natural calamities. Students from flood-affected families are especially encouraged to apply.

Eligibility requires Punjab domicile, household income under Rs. 300,000–350,000, and at least 60–70% marks in intermediate exams. Applicants must be enrolled in a public sector institution and not already receiving a similar scholarship. For medical and dentistry students, eligibility applies from the 2nd to 5th year, while semester-based criteria apply to other programs.

Applications can only be submitted online through the PHEC Scholarship Portal using valid CNIC details, academic transcripts, income certificates, and enrollment verification. The Commission has advised students to apply early to avoid last-minute server issues.

Will extending the deadline help more flood-affected students secure their chance at higher education under the Honhaar Program?
