The distribution of Ramadan Nigehban Cards in Punjab is lagging far behind schedule, leaving many deserving families waiting. According to the reports, only 285,000 cards have reached beneficiaries out of the three million planned, highlighting serious delays in the program.
Sources say that while more than 1.7 million cards have been printed, and over 1.1 million have arrived at deputy commissioners’ offices, the delivery to families is moving very slowly. Officials noted that cards are ready at the offices, but distribution remains far below expectations.
The Punjab government had set a target of distributing 100,000 cards daily to ensure timely assistance during the holy month. However, progress has been uneven, causing concern among authorities and the public alike.
On Tuesday, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz took notice of the slow rollout and directed officials to accelerate the delivery of these cards. The move comes as part of efforts to reach the poor and needy in time for Ramadan.
