The Government of Punjab has clarified that schools across the province will remain open according to the existing academic calendar, dismissing rumors about closures or a shift to online classes.
According to Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, all public and private schools will continue their normal operations and there is currently no plan to suspend physical classes. The minister emphasized that the provincial government is committed to completing the academic year without disruption.
In an official statement, the minister said that schools are functioning according to the scheduled academic calendar and reports suggesting closures or a move toward online education are incorrect. He confirmed that classroom teaching will continue across the province.
The clarification comes amid speculation that the federal government might introduce fuel conservation measures due to concerns over global oil supply disruptions linked to tensions in the Middle East. Authorities have been discussing possible steps to manage energy consumption if the situation worsens.
A cabinet committee reviewing petroleum prices has already prepared a national action plan in consultation with provincial governments. The proposal is expected to be presented to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif before being placed before the Economic Coordination Committee for final approval.
Despite these discussions at the federal level, the Punjab government has reassured parents, students, and school administrations that educational activities will continue as normal and that there are currently no plans for school closures or online learning.
