Good news for School Teacher Interns (STIs) in Punjab as the provincial government has announced a clear timeline for the release of their long-awaited salaries. Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has confirmed that all pending payments will be issued within the next two weeks, bringing relief to thousands of interns across the province.
In a statement shared on Monday, the education minister directly addressed the concerns of STIs, stating, “All pending STI salaries will be issued within 14 days.” The assurance was made through his official social media account, signaling the government’s commitment to resolving the issue without further delay.
School Teacher Interns have been serving in public schools across Punjab under a temporary hiring program aimed at addressing teacher shortages and providing young graduates with practical teaching experience. However, delays in salary disbursement had caused frustration among interns, prompting repeated appeals for government intervention.
The salary announcement comes alongside other education-focused initiatives by the Punjab government. Recently, applications were opened for the Chief Minister’s Laptop Scheme, which has been extended to eligible students of private universities. Students securing 65 percent marks or above can apply through the official portal, reinforcing the government’s broader push toward digital education and youth support.
The confirmation of salary clearance is expected to ease financial stress for STIs and restore confidence in the internship program. Education officials believe timely payments will improve morale and ensure uninterrupted academic activities in public schools
