The Punjab government has issued a clarification regarding claims about the discontinuation of Sehat Card services in the province.
Authorities dismissed the rumors, advising citizens not to believe false reports, and confirmed that Sehat Card services remain fully operational. Patients can continue receiving treatment at designated private hospitals across the country.
According to the Punjab Health Initiative Management Company (PHIMC), the Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) itself now serves as the Sehat Card. Citizens are urged to ensure their family records are correctly updated in NADRA’s system to benefit from the program.
Sehat Card Eligibility
Punjab residents can easily check their eligibility for Sehat Card services by sending their CNIC number via SMS to 8500. To further assist the public, PHIMC has also set up a helpline, available from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., for resolving any hospital-related issues.
Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced an expansion of free healthcare under its Sehat Card scheme. Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has directed the concerned departments to finalize the inclusion of more public and private hospitals that meet the program’s requirements.
The decision was taken during a Health Department meeting chaired by CM Gandapur. Health Advisor Ehtesham Ali, Additional Chief Secretary for Planning and Development Ikramullah Khan, Health Secretary Syed Adeel Shah, and other officials from the KP Health Foundation and Sehat Card Plus were present at the meeting.
